Golf tourism
The province of Almería constitutes a major draw for amateur golfers, and Spanish and international professionals as well. Its eight golf courses, spread along the coast, are fully equipped for the organisation of tournaments and other sporting events, which, coupled with their well developed hotel facilities, constitute a clear opportunity for the promotion of this tourism segment.
The hallmark of these courses is the wide variety of their natural features. All reachable by highway, visitors are able to access to the magnificent beaches of Vera, Mojácar (Levante), Roquetas de Mar and Almerimar (Poniente), or make getaways to enjoy the nature of the Sierra de Gádor mountain range, or the Almanzora Valley. Thus, golfers can decide if they want to hone their swings in an arid desert setting, or one near Mediterranean shores.
