Sun and Sand tourism

Almería's coast is characterised by its great number of immaculate beaches. This landscape, stretching from the beaches of the capital city to the coast of the Natural Park that bears its name, is simply spectacular. Of special note are spots like the Arrecife de las Sirenas (Reef of the Mermaids), near fishing villages that are a delight to simply stroll through, just to admire their traditions and customs.

Meanwhile, the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, features a diverse landscape that allows visitors to ramble through salt flats, dunes, the great mining plain of Rodalquilar, and fishing villages such as the Isleta del Moro.

Almería's Levante region is one of the most easily accessible areas in the province of Almería.

The terrain endows whitewashed and unspoiled fishing villages like Garrucha and Mojácar with a very unique charm.

Quaility certificates

The beaches in the province of Almería are clean, safe, accessible and environmentally sound. With excellent facilities and clean sand, safety measures are observed, accessibility is facilitated, and the environment is respected. This aspect is confirmed by the quality certificates granted Almería's beaches after careful evaluations of these parameters.

Their quality is recognised internationally with the Blue Flag emblem granted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). This is an award and an environmental quality certification system created and managed by the FEE in 1987.

The FEE is made up of almost 74 non-governmental organisations, one for each participating state. ADEAC is the FEE member responsible for Spain. The FEE grants the Blue Flag every year to beaches, ports and vessels that meet its criteria –periodically reviewed, agreed upon and increasingly stringent– covering legality, health, cleaning, safety, information and environmental management.

Some beaches also boast the demanding "Q" symbol for Tourism Quality, granted by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE), confirming that the beach in question meets the quality requirements in place, its facilities and services certified as seeking continuous improvement and tourist satisfaction at all times., que otorga el Instituto para la Calidad Turística Española (ICTE): significa que la playa en cuestión cumple con los requisitos de calidad exigidos, y acredita que sus instalaciones y servicios buscan en todo momento la mejora continua y la satisfacción del turista.
